Crewe Advisors, a Salt Lake City, Utah-based registered investment advisor with $2.5 billion in assets, has hired Seth Merrill as chief investment officer and partner.
Dustin Thackeray, who served as CIO since the RIA’s founding in 2015, has been appointed head of portfolio management.
In his new role, Thackeray will focus on the execution and implementation of investment strategies. He’ll also supervise day-to-day portfolio operations, manage tax-aware implementation and oversee customized strategies for clients.
Merrill joins from Ensign Peak Advisors, the investment firm for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he was co-director of portfolio strategy. Prior to Ensign, he ran his own investment management firm, Cederian Investments. He also had a stint at Brandes Investment Partners.
“As we grow, we want to align the right leaders in the right roles,” said Ryan Halliday, managing partner, in a statement. “With Dustin’s deep expertise in portfolio execution and Seth’s institutional investment leadership, we’re building a platform that’s stronger, more dynamic and even better equipped to meet the evolving needs of our clients.”
“Top wealth managers have grown increasingly sophisticated over time, and the line has blurred between institutional and individual investment management,” Merrill said in a statement. “Crewe exemplifies the best in wealth management, with a unique business model that brings together institutional-grade investment expertise, seamless technology integration, a client-centric culture built for long-term relationships and the additional resources of Crewe Capital and Crewe Foundation.”
Crewe Capital offers investment banking, merchant banking and securities services to middle-market companies, while Crewe Foundation is its 501(c)(3) public charity.
