The Tennessee Department of Treasury announced Tuesday the promotion of Daniel Crews, the Treasury Investment Division’s director of private equity, to be the department’s new deputy CIO.
Crews, who has served as director of private equity since 2013, will be succeeded in that role by Grant Leslie, formerly a senior private equity portfolio manager. Leslie will oversee a $9 billion private equity portfolio.
The Tennessee Department of Treasury manages more than $125 billion in state assets, including the $69.4 billion Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System, the primary public pension fund of Tennessee.
The treasury also manages a $36.9 billion state pooled investment fund, which manages cash reserves and trust funds, and the $7.7 billion Local Government Investment Pool, which provides short-term cash management for local governments.
