Conflux (CFX) Network is set to implement a hardfork including eight critical CIPs, enhancing EVM compatibility and addressing key issues.
Conflux (CFX) Network is preparing for a significant system upgrade by implementing a hardfork that will incorporate eight Conflux Improvement Proposals (CIPs). This upgrade, as announced by the Conflux Forum, is anticipated to enhance the network’s functionality and compatibility with Ethereum’s Virtual Machine (EVM).
Details of the Proposed CIPs
The upcoming hardfork will include modifications to the following CIPs: CIP-150, CIP-151, CIP-152, CIP-154, CIP-156, CIP-165, CIP-645, and CIP-7702. These proposals are mainly categorized into EVM Compatibility, Bug Fixes, and Specification Adjustments.
EVM Compatibility Enhancements
Six of the proposals, including CIP-150, CIP-151, CIP-152, CIP-165, CIP-645, and CIP-7702, are geared towards enhancing EVM compatibility. For instance, CIP-150 mirrors Ethereum’s EIP-3541, which restricts deploying new code starting with the 0xEF
byte. Meanwhile, CIP-151 aligns with EIP-6780 to prevent the SELFDESTRUCT
opcode from destroying contracts, except under specific conditions.
Additionally, CIP-152 addresses potential security vulnerabilities akin to EIP-3607, which tackles address collision attacks. CIP-165 introduces operations on the BLS12-381 curve, crucial for efficient BLS signature verification. CIP-645 aims to harmonize Conflux eSpace’s behavior with Ethereum’s EVM by adopting several Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs), including EIP-1108, EIP-1884, and EIP-2565, among others.
Bug Fixes and Specification Adjustments
CIP-154 is a bug fix addressing an error in CIP-142, where the TLOAD
opcode was mistakenly implemented as SLOAD
. CIP-156 proposes changes in the penalty for Proof of Stake (PoS) malicious behavior, shifting from permanent stake forfeiture to temporary stake locking.
Introduction of CIP-7702
CIP-7702 introduces the implementation of EIP-7702 to Conflux eSpace, enhancing the network’s capabilities and aligning it more closely with Ethereum’s standards.
