The Employees Retirement System of Texas named Amy Cureton as director of real assets, succeeding Bob Sessa, who retired at the end of August.

Cureton, a long-time employee of ERS, joined the pension fund in 2008. She was named director of private real estate in 2022, previously serving as a portfolio manager of private real estate.

During her tenure at ERS, the fund’s private real estate team grew from nothing to more than $7 billion in commitments across more than 120 commingled funds, fund of funds, separate accounts and co-investments, according to ERS.

“Amy brings more than two decades of investment experience to this role, including almost 16 years of distinguished service with ERS,” said David Veal, Texas ERS’s CEO, in a statement. “The decision to promote Amy was the culmination of a rigorous month-long process that considered several strong internal candidates for this important leadership position that oversees 16% of retirement trust assets.”
