Anwiti Bahuguna
Northern Trust Asset Management has promoted Anwiti Bahuguna to global co-CIO. She will succeed Michael Hunstad, following his promotion to president of NTAM earlier this month. Bahuguna will join Co-CIO Chris Roth in the position.
Bahuguna was previously deputy global CIO of the $1.3 trillion asset manager, also holding the roles of CIO of multi-asset investments and of head of retirement and not-for-profit OCIO investment teams.
Bahuguna will oversee the firm’s investment capabilities and, together with Roth, will be responsible for its investment performance, process and philosophy, leading more than 300 investment staff. Bahuguna will also be a member of NTAM’s leadership group, along with its investment policy and risk committees. She will report to Hunstad.

As president, Hunstad is succeeding Daniel Gamba, whose departure to Franklin Templeton as chief commercial officer also was announced earlier this month. Hunstad and Roth had been co-CIOs since May, succeeding Angelo Manioudakis, who retired that month.
Prior to her roles at NTAM, Bahuguna spent two decades at Columbia Threadneedle, most recently as head of U.S. multi-asset strategy. She earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and mathematics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University and a Ph.D. in economics from Northeastern University.
