Adela Skenderasi
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation announced Wednesday the appointment of Adela Skenderasi as CIO of the nonprofit, which funds research for cystic fibrosis treatment. Skenderasi will succeed the fund’s inaugural CIO, Jack Mahler, effective October 13.
Skenderasi will oversee the investment strategy for the foundation, which provides capital to biotech companies working across all phases of cystic fibrosis drug development. The foundation managed $4.9 billion in assets, as of the end of 2024.
“The Foundation’s mission truly resonates with me. It is a privilege to support such a dedicated community and to be able to contribute to the Foundation’s legacy of bold scientific progress and compassionate care,” Skenderasi said in a statement. “I look forward to helping the Foundation steward its resources to maximize impact, drive innovation, and ultimately help realize a future where there is a cure for everyone with cystic fibrosis.”
Skenderasi was previously a partner in, portfolio manager at and senior member of Brown Advisory’s outsourced CIO practice, working with endowment and foundation clients. She was also previously a senior investment director at the International Monetary Fund and was director of investment operations at Georgetown University.
