XYPN Announces Member Benefits from Holistiplan, Orion

Leaders of the popular XY Planning Network announced several new member benefits at its 11th annual conference opener that are sure to pique the interest of its more than 2,100 members, as well as non-members.

First, the award-winning tax planning software provider Holistiplan would be included as a member benefit, meaning new firms with a network membership will get free access to the premium module of the platform and significant discounts for established firms, no matter their size.

The second major part of the announcement concerned an expansion of XYPN’s existing partnership with major wealth tech provider Orion. The network’s members will gain customized access to the Orion platform at a discounted price point. This includes a lot of pre-built reporting and settings customized to the typical needs of the network’s member firms.

“Orion has built phenomenal, robust software over decades and the challenge with that as it has grown to meet the needs of pretty sophisticated, often large advisory firms,” said XYPN co-founder and CEO Alan Moore.

He said part of what makes the Orion iteration the network is announcing different and special is the customization that has been done specifically to suit most XYPN advisors.

“Sure, we’ve brought the cost down but that’s just a bonus—we have an in-house team of Orion experts who have set things up—for example pre-built reports and templates and necessary forms,” he said, noting that this type of support is something that members both greatly value and often need, since at the smaller end of the advisory size scale most lack internal technology support.

With the new Orion benefit, members can now start with a no-cost option that will allow advisors to support up to 40 accounts on the platform (Moore noted that the average household served by XYPN advisors tends to have two accounts).

For firms that need to support more than 40 accounts, pricing starts at $2,000 per year, with a tier that provides additional support from XYPN, which costs $4,000 annually and includes billing and other additional support.

For those who have followed or worked with Orion, this pricing is significant.

The expanded partnership provides all members, regardless of the size of the firm, access to streamlined onboarding that will take days, not weeks. Moore said this, too, goes back to the experienced support staff available at the network, who have worked with and assisted many firms through the onboarding process over the eight years since the initial partnership with Orion rolled out.

With these two new benefits, Moore said XYPN has responded to the top two most requested benefit categories—tax planning (specifically, access to Holistiplan) and investment management and portfolio reporting technology—based on member feedback, from start-up planners to more advanced firms.

“We’re an enterprise that let’s our members own their own data,” said Moore, which was something many technology providers had a hard time wrapping their minds around, let alone providing the ability to support.

“Orion was the top-tier [provider] we found in being able to provide to our members what we and they need,” he said.

Additional Benefits and Updates

Among the other new services and member benefits, Moore called out the network’s new Risk Ready Kit, which includes a new tier of XYPN Archive called Archive+ and a new Wind Down Assurance program, which he said he and the network were especially proud of.

“We had two of our members pass away over the last few years and it made us realize that there was no real process in place, beyond their own continuity plans, for assisting in the aftermath of such a tragedy,” he said. As part of this kit and service, XYPN would provide support in communicating with clients and heirs when a participating advisor passes away. He said XYPN collaborated with its two largest custodians, Altruist and Schwab, on this as well, securing the necessary permissions for accessing contacts.

“Our hope is that this will help and allow their heirs to focus on grieving,” he said.

XYPN also announced several other programs and updates, which included a 60% discount on the highest tier of Wealthbox CRM, which would be subsidized by the network. Also, Wealthbox-related is the network’s Capacity Kit, a new optimization service for the popular CRM that provides compliance consulting, bookkeeping and other business-related consulting services.

The network also expanded its Group E&O Insurance, which is through insurance provider Markel in association with the insurance broker Starkweather & Shepley. It is now available to those firms with $750,000 to $2 million in revenue.

Holistiplan Details

In a prepared statement, the network noted that participating users get their first 15 households of Premium Tax tier free, and additional Premium Tax households will receive at least a 35% discount. Also, P&C Insurance Analysis users will receive a 33% discount.

Holistiplan, which has transparent pricing, sells its premium tax product for advisors starting at $1,999 for 75 households. At the other end of the household spectrum, a firm serving 750 households will cost $15,049. The company also offers monthly pricing that costs a bit more. For full details of what is included in the different packages, advisors will need to visit Holisiplan’s website.

Holistiplan won a 2025 WealthManagement.com Industry Award for Insurance, Personal Risk Reviews, and the XYPN LIVE Advisor Tech Competition in 2019, among others.

XYPN was co-founded by Alan Moore and Michael Kitces in 2014 and added its 1,000th member in 2019. A record 456 new members joined the network in 2024, when the network launched its corporate RIA Sapphire program as well.
