Key Takeaways
- Bombie’s creators have teased a May 20, 2025, TGE for the BOMBIE token.
- The gamer has pulled at least 10 million players since its August 2024 launch.
- Bombie is the second major airdrop from the Catizen gaming ecosystem.
The creators of Bombie, a popular play-to-earn game on Telegram, have announced a follow-up title called CapyBomb.
However, with a long-awaited token launch just days away, many players are more concerned with the status of the original game’s airdrop than the debut of its sequel.
A token generation event (TGE) for BOMB, teased for May 20, has yet to be confirmed, leaving the community skeptical.

Bombie, But DeFi
The CapyBomb trailer just dropped, and from the looks of it, it seems to offer a very similar, albeit slightly upgraded, version of Bombie, though this time with some DeFi features.
In this version, instead of playing as a “Bombie warrior,” players take on the role of a capybara battling through waves of enemies to earn unreleased CAPY tokens for an upcoming airdrop.
The trailer promotes the game as a sequel, highlighting its new staking mechanism, which promises “1000% APY” through its “Stake-to-Earn” system.
“CapyBomb’s Stake-to-Earn system lets you earn rewards while doing nothing. No top-up needed. Just stake, chill, and count your gains,” the game notes.
Players are also able to stake and re-stake their in-game CAPY tokens, with the suggestion that they can earn passively over time.
In true Bombie fashion, the video’s production quality is quirky at best, though some have said it “looks as cheap as it gets.”
Indeed, it is an odd video showcasing what looks to be Bombie re-skinned with in-game mechanics masquerading as “DeFi features.”
Players Lament
Once again, the Bombie team has faced backlash for its ambiguous marketing, which has often teased and hinted at “things to come,” but the only thing players care about is the TGE.
On May 1, Bombie riled up the community with a post that suggested the TGE would take place on May 20, 2025.
However, the CapyBomb push has caused some to think that the new game could launch on May 20, with no TGE in sight.
Unfortunately, Telegram’s play-to-earn (P2E) ecosystem has earned itself a pretty bad reputation following the disappointing Hamster Kombat (HMSTR) airdrop.
Similarly, Catizen, the game and ecosystem Bombie launched on, also had a tricky airdrop rollout with delays and last-minute adjustments.
With just a week to go until May 20, discontent is beginning to take hold of the P2E community, putting the sector’s sustainability longevity into doubt again.
