Ex-GIC Tech Boss Launches Inaugural VC Fund


Venture capital firm Sentinel Global closed its inaugural VC fund, backed by a number of family offices and sovereign wealth funds.  

Sentinel Fund I closed with $213.5 million in committed capital. Sentinel, founded by Jeremy Kranz, will invest in multi-stage technology companies driving enterprise transformation, which includes cybersecurity, data systems, open-computing architectures, and interoperable commerce.  

“Our goal is to back solutions that are not just visionary but ready for deployment. They must be built to scale, comply, and thrive in the most demanding environments,” Kranz said in a statement. “Sentinel was built to partner with founders who think globally, prioritize trust and are ready to bring transformational technologies to real world systems.” 

Limited partners in the fund include Mexican family office Talipot Investments as well as several other family offices and sovereign funds, a person familiar with the fundraising said.

 Before founding Sentinel, Kranz spent 17 years at Singapore’s sovereign fund GIC, most recently as a managing director in its technology investment group in San Francisco between 2017 and 2021.
