Gen Z Should Be Upset With the AARP

Here are some sample bylines:

  • Retiring Early? Prepare for Higher Healthcare Premiums

  • ACA insurance will cost the average person 75% more next year, research shows

  • Virginia health insurance premiums could skyrocket following a tax credit’s expiration

This ain’t no secret here, time is running out to prepare. The webinar will have the latest updates, we will also know Medicare details (Part D and Medicare Advantage).

Paid subscribers only will have access to the recording, as part of access to Premium Subscriber Content on www.gh2benefits.com.

A 26-year old cannot be part of a family plan under the ACA. It’s not all bad, it is that the newly-annointed are shocked. That said, a HUGE part of the reason is due to the AARP (read on gh2benefits.com for paid subscribers).

And whilst Secure Act 2.0 does help people slow down the mandatory withdrawals from qualified funds, this only lowers tax receipts, leaving Gen Z with the bag. It’s another example of how the power of the AARP and the Baby Boomer generation have created (unintentionally or intentionally) a situation where Gen Z is paying more than its share, both today, and in the future.

It is true, this story. That is not the point. The fact is that Medicare Advantage would also have saved a person hundreds of thousands. It is simply that the Medicare Advantage member would’ve had to meet the out-of-pocket maximum for the calendar year.

My point is that multiple things can be true, and for Mr Perfect, living check-to-check, the risk of facing Medicare Advantage’s higher out-of-pocket maximum may have been worth it, when the premium can be $0 a month.

If we didn’t live in such an either-or world, I wouldn’t have to point this out. I also can’t wait for the Tooth Fairy to gimme $100 whilst I am sleeping tonight.
