Kraft Heinz Plans $3B in Manufacturing Upgrades

Chicago-based Kraft Heinz is launching a $3 billion modernization initiative across its U.S. manufacturing footprint. This investment is the largest the company has made in its facilities in more than a decade.

The multi-year plan will enhance efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and integrate advanced automation technologies at 30 of the company’s manufacturing sites across the United States, reported Reuters.

Targeting key production facilities, the upgrades aim to increase output while supporting sustainability goals through energy and water conservation measures. The investment is expected to create around 3,500 new construction jobs. It follows a previously announced investment of $400 million into building a 775,000-square-foot automated distribution centre in DeKalb, Illinois.

Last year, the company received a $170 million investment from the US Department of Energy to support the implementation of clean energy projects at ten of its plants. This included installing a range of technologies such as heat pumps, electric heaters and boilers, anaerobic digestion, thermal energy storage and more, creating an estimated 500 jobs across the sites.
