LPL Hires Chief People Officer from McKinsey

LPL Financial has hired a new chief people officer from consultancy McKinsey & Company, the week after announcing the close of a deal for Commonwealth Financial Network that adds 3,000 financial advisors to its network.

Emily Field, formerly a partner at McKinsey & Company, will lead the broker/dealer’s human resources team as group managing director and chief people officer, and will be part of the firm’s management committee. At McKinsey, she worked on areas including talent, HR functions and leadership development.

Field replaces Sara Dadyar, who left in April after about a year and a half, according to her LinkedIn. She had held HR leadership roles at an EVE battery maker and General Electric.

LPL released the news on Friday after announcing it had closed the acquisition of Commonwealth, the Waltham, Mass.-based broker/dealer. LPL said in the announcement that it was on track to retain its target of 90% of Commonwealth advisors, despite some breakaways after its March announcement of the deal.

The San Diego-based LPL said it plans to complete the integration of advisors and assets onto its platforms in the fourth quarter of 2026, and that Commonwealth’s CEO Wayne Bloom will join the LPL management committee as a managing director, and Commonwealth founder Joe Deitch will advise LPL’s Board of Directors.

LPL CEO Rich Steinmeier said in a statement that Field has “earned deep trust from her clients by consistently bringing a data-driven, people-first approach to talent strategy.”

The firm did not immediately comment on whether Field had worked with them as a consultant.

LPL’s human resources group includes talent management, rewards, learning, culture and engagement, and HR business partners. Its direct employee base includes about 9,000 people, with its network of affiliated advisors being over 29,000.

Before joining McKinsey in 2017, Field had been with Accenture for over six years. She also regularly contributed to McKinsey’s research, publications and podcasts.
