NVIDIA introduces free access to its Base Command Manager, easing AI cluster management for enterprises with an option for paid enterprise support.

NVIDIA has announced that its Base Command Manager is now available for free, providing a significant boost to system administrators and cluster managers tasked with handling complex AI and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads. This strategic move aims to simplify and enhance the management of these workloads, which are increasingly prevalent across various industries, according to a recent NVIDIA blog post.

New Opportunities for Cluster Managers

The Base Command Manager, utilized globally to optimize accelerated clusters, now offers no-cost access supporting up to eight accelerators per system on any cluster size. This initiative is designed to offer system administrators a reliable alternative to open-source tools, removing barriers to access and providing more options for infrastructure teams, whether they are evaluating new workflows or scaling up production clusters.

Support and Flexibility

NVIDIA has introduced new support options alongside the free access. Community support is available through the NVIDIA Forums, while enterprise support can be purchased separately for those needing more comprehensive assistance. This flexibility allows organizations to choose the level of support that best fits their needs, without being locked into a single solution.

Enhanced Use Cases

The Base Command Manager is particularly beneficial for swiftly building and managing AI and HPC clusters in various environments, including cloud, edge, and on-premises, for both containerized and non-containerized workloads. This tool is not only suited for production environments but also for evaluation, educational purposes, and demonstrations, making it a versatile choice for organizations.

Terms and Additional Support

The free-to-use license, available for a one-year term renewable annually, is intended solely for organizational use and not for commercial resale. Additional enterprise support options, not covered under the free license, are available through NVIDIA Enterprise Partners. This includes support for NVIDIA GPU Operator, Network Operator, and vGPU, which are also part of the NVIDIA AI Enterprise and Mission Control packages.

For enterprises engaged in building AI factories, NVIDIA Mission Control offers comprehensive management of AI factory operations, incorporating the capabilities of Base Command Manager to enhance efficiency and accelerate AI production.

Getting Started

Organizations interested in leveraging the free Base Command Manager can learn more and request access via NVIDIA’s official website. This initiative represents a significant step forward in democratizing access to advanced AI management tools, potentially transforming how enterprises manage their AI and HPC workloads.
