Wealth Management EDGE moved to a new venue this year, the Boca Raton Resort, in Boca Raton, Fla.
Day 1 kicked off on Tuesday with a first-ever golf tournament and proceeded to include a full schedule of workshops, keynote addresses and socializing and networking.
While the location was new this year, the same energy was on display as advisors gathered to learn about growth strategies centered on investments, business planning and artificial intelligence.
The day was capped with a moving conversation between Shannon Rosic, director of WealthStack content and solutions, and former NFL quarterback Alex Smith about anxiety, resiliency and moving forward.
Smith talked about how he was able to come back from a broken right tibia and fibula he suffered in 2018, which nearly cost him his leg.
After 17 surgeries, including having a metal rod inserted in his leg, Smith got back on his feet.
“Just dropping back and throwing a ball in the park was magical,” he said. Still, he was so riddled with anxiety that when he was cleared to play football again, the fear came back.
His wife encouraged him to keep playing, and when he did make it back on the field, “I was only saying one thing to myself: am I going to live today?” he said, reiterating a mantra from one of his former teammates.
He soaked up those last six games and enjoyed his chance to play football again.
“I could have cared less about what they wrote on the papers or said on talk radio,” he said. “I was so grateful to be out there.”
