The Sui Overflow 2025 Hackathon concluded with outstanding success, recognizing over 40 innovative projects across various tracks. The event, which attracted submissions from 599 projects globally, highlighted the growing potential of the Sui blockchain in driving technological advancements, according to Sui Foundation.
Winners Across Diverse Tracks
The hackathon featured nine tracks, including Entertainment and Culture, AI, Privacy, DeFi, and others, with 36 winners emerging. The University group saw 10 additional winners. The Entertainment and Culture track garnered the most submissions, reflecting Sui’s capability for mass adoption. AI was the second most popular track, demonstrating Sui’s edge in hosting advanced technologies.
Project builders from 85 countries began registering in February 2025, with the official build period running from April to May. The competition involved shortlisting, demonstration days, and community voting, culminating in awards ranging from $30,000 to $7,500 for the top teams. University winners received $2,500 each.
Top Projects and Innovations
In the AI track, projects like Suithetic, OpenGraph, RaidenX, and Hyvve showcased groundbreaking uses of AI on Sui, ranging from synthetic data generation to AI-enabled trading apps. Privacy-focused projects, such as ZeroLeaks and Shroud, explored zero-knowledge infrastructure and encrypted storage solutions.
The DeFi track included Magma Finance and Pismo Protocol, which advanced yield optimization and composability. Meanwhile, the Degen track saw projects like MoonBags and Kensei push the boundaries of crypto culture through token experiments and community engagement.
Community Engagement and Voting
Community voting played a crucial role in determining winners, with participants casting votes from June 14 to June 20, 2025. The awards in this category recognized voters whose selections aligned closely with the expert judges, reflecting their technical discernment.
Out of 195,029 total votes, the closest predictions matched seven out of nine track winners, with 28 winning votes in this category. These results were incorporated into the final project rankings, enhancing the community’s involvement in the decision-making process.
Acknowledging Sponsors and Future Prospects
The success of the hackathon was supported by track sponsors such as Pyth, Uni, Walrus, and Wormhole, alongside prize sponsors including Alibaba Cloud and Bucket. Their contributions were instrumental in fostering an environment conducive to innovation.
