Investment Bank William Blair & Co. announced on Tuesday the appointment of Robert D. Kendall as its global head of investment management. Kendall’s appointment is effective immediately, and he succeeds Stephanie Braming, a 21-year veteran of the firm, who will retire in October.

Braming will stay with the firm until the fourth quarter to ensure a seamless transition. Kendall will be responsible for the strategic direction of William Blair’s investment management business, including portfolio management, client and operational activities, according to a statement from the firm.

“I am thrilled to be joining William Blair and look forward to building upon the firm’s long heritage of helping clients achieve their investment goals,” Kendall said in a statement.

Kendall was most recently president of Raymond James Investment Management and was previously the CEO of DWS Americas, overseeing the U.S. operations of Deutsche Bank’s asset management business.
