England captain Harry Kane backs ticketing startup Seat Unique

England men’s football captain Harry Kane has invested in London-based premium ticketing platform Seat Unique, as part of a wider round that values it at over £100m.

Founded in 2019, Seat Unique sells premium tickets and hospitality packages to sports, music and entertainment events. The company’s offering has proven popular, with sales doubling annually and surpassing £55m in the last financial year.

Bayern Munich striker Kane says: “I know how much it means for fans to have those incredible experiences. Seat Unique is changing how people access these moments by creating better access to premium experiences.”

Seat Unique customers can purchase tickets directly through its website or via partner organisations, which include sports clubs, stadiums and arenas predominantly based in England, and Formula 1 race circuits in the Middle East, to gain access to experiences usually reserved for corporate clients and box holders.

Other high-profile athletes — including Olympic heptathlete Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill and English cricketer Ben Stokes — joined Kane in backing the startup this round, according to Dealroom.

They will sit on the cap table with ex-footballer John Terry’s VC firm, The Player’s Fund, and former Sky Betting and Gambling CEO Sir Richard Flint — who is also an advisor to Seat Unique’s board alongside former Rugby Union player and coach Sir Clive Woodward.

The raise comes off the back off a busy few weeks for footballers looking to score with investments. Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot invested over €1m in Bioniq, a startup developing personalised nutritional supplements, joining former club and international teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sifted previously compiled a list of footballer angels — including Kylian Mbappé, Cesc Fàbregas and Zlatan Ibrahimovi?.
