Zelensky: Hope Europe can provide at least 5 billion euros in support as soon as possible
Ukrainian President Zelensky announced on social media that he has delivered a speech at the European Council meeting. He emphasized that it is urgent to increase support for Ukraine, especially in terms of air defense, military assistance, and enhancing Ukraine’s overall resilience.
Zelensky pointed out that Ukraine urgently needs funds to purchase ammunition and hopes that Europe can provide at least 5 billion euros in support as soon as possible. He also called on Europe and Ukraine to jointly invest in weapons production, achieve technological independence in weapons production in Europe, and locally manufacture the materials needed to defend Europe.
Zelensky mentioned that Ukraine has advanced technology in the fields of drones and electronic warfare, which not only ensures its own defense, but also benefits European and global partners. But the development and modernization of these technologies require European investment in Ukrainian industry and joint production.
In addition, he emphasized the need to continue pressuring Russia and maintaining sanctions until Russia withdraws and compensates for losses. To combat Russia’s evasion of sanctions, diplomatic efforts should not be relaxed to push Russia towards peace.
Zelensky also emphasized that Europe needs technological independence, including weapons manufacturing, and that obstructing the decision of the entire alliance by one person is an “anti European” behavior. He also introduced the conversation with US President Trump, telling him that the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant can only operate under Ukrainian control.
